The Financing Agri-Food Systems Sustainably (FINAS) dialogue (“FINAS”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya and other applicable laws.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The FINAS secretariat is responsible for the personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at summit@finasafrica.org or at Food Crops Research Centre – Kabete, Off Waiyaki Way.
2. Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you use our contact form we collect your name, email address and the message you send. If you register for an event, create an account or send us other information, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, organisation, contact details and any documents you upload.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers and tools may record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you visit and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies. We use cookies and similar technologies that are needed for the site to work (for example to keep you signed in or to protect forms from spam) and, where used, to understand how the site is used. See section 6.
3. How we use your information
- to respond to your enquiries and requests;
- to run and administer FINAS events, accounts and registrations;
- to send you the information you ask for, such as newsletters and event updates;
- to keep the website secure, prevent spam and fix problems;
- to understand how the site is used so that we can improve it;
- to meet our legal and reporting obligations.
We only use your personal information where we have a lawful reason to do so, such as your consent, performing a request you have made, our legitimate interest in running the dialogue, or a legal obligation.
4. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- service providers who help us run the website, host data, send email or protect against spam, and who may only use it to provide those services;
- event partners and co-organisers, where this is needed to deliver an event you have registered for;
- authorities or advisers, where the law requires it or to protect our rights.
Some of these providers may be located outside Kenya. Where this happens we take steps to make sure your information remains protected.
5. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, including any legal or reporting requirements, and then delete or anonymise it. Messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Essential cookies make features such as sign-in and security work and cannot be switched off in our systems. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may not work properly without essential cookies.
7. Links to other websites and social media
Our site links to other websites, including news outlets, partners and social media pages such as Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Instagram. These sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Please read their policies before sharing personal information.
