Dr. Denis Fidalis Mujibi, (PhD) is an Associate Director in charge of Data Insights and Market Intelligence at the Strathmore Agri-Food Innovation Centre (SAFIC). He is a Geneticist with a PhD in Animal Science (Statistical Genomics) from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada and MSc in Biotechnology from Kenyatta University, Kenya. He is also an Entrepreneur and a Director of USOMI Limited. Previously, he worked as a Biostatistician for Merial (Duluth, Georgia, USA), where he was involved in the development of genomic tools for commercial application in the North American livestock industry. Denis has extensive experience working with smallholder farmers in Eastern Africa (especially in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia) and Nigeria. He has gone through several accelerators and business scaling programs including the Stanford Seed program. At SAFIC, he is involved in accelerator programs working with SMEs to facilitate market driven value chain governance and transformation in Avocado and Red meat value chains. He has mentored many businesses and participated in CEO leadership labs to co-create solutions to extant business challenges. He has led multi-sectoral innovation platforms in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Nigeria targeting institutional change for high impact institutions in the agriculture sector. Denis is interesting in promoting and catalysing adoption of cutting-edge technologies to enable precision agriculture, value addition and new materials development. Denis’ interests and passions include design and development of channels for enhanced uptake of best farming practices, adoption and application of New-world technologies in developing world farming systems.
