Wanjiru (Ciru) Gikonyo is a leading voice in social accountability and governance in Kenya. She founded The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA), steering it to national prominence through innovative advocacy, social audits, and public interest litigation. Wanjiru has led major coalitions such as the Devolution Forum and Okoa Uchumi, shaping policy and demanding accountability. A former media practitioner, she blends strategic communication with grassroots organizing to advance citizen empowerment. Now focused on regional impact, she supports social enterprises and civil society across Africa. Wanjiru holds a Business degree from Heriot-Watt University, studied sociology at the University of Nairobi, and is completing her master’s in social Transformation at Tangaza University.
